Screwed Retained Restorations

Precision Meets Performance

Screw-retained implant crowns represent the forefront of dental restoration technology, merging precision, durability, and aesthetics. These crowns, directly connected to endosseous dental implants, offer a seamless integration without the need for cement, ensuring a biocompatible and more predictable outcome.

Benefits

  • Retrievability: This allows dental professionals to easily assess and service the underlying implant if necessary, without damaging the crown or surrounding tissue.
  • No Cement Issues: Traditional cemented crowns can sometimes lead to residual cement being left below the gum line, which can cause inflammation, peri-implant disease, or even implant failure. With screw-retained crowns, these risks are eliminated, ensuring a cleaner and healthier implant site.
  • Quick Seating: CAD/CAM technology ensures a precise fit and natural emergence profile.
  • Durability: Long-lasting with a lower maintenance requirement, making them an ideal choice for patients seeking a long-term solution
  • Compact  Design: Screw-retained restorations are ideal for cases with limited occlusal space or mouth opening due to their compact and direct attachment mechanism, eliminating the need for additional components or cement space.
  • Reliable Retention: The direct screw attachment to the implant ensures a secure and stable fit, reducing the risk of dislodgment or movement, especially in high-load areas.

Clinical Tips

Impression taking – Traditional

  • Remove the healing abutment and replace it swiftly with an open- or closed-tray impression coping
  • Ensure the impression coping is seated correctly via a radiograph.
  • Record the impression with light body PVS around the implant coping and fill the impression try with medium/heavy body.
  • Submit to the laboratory.

Impression taking – Digital

  • Remove the healing abutment and promptly attach the scan body specific to the implant system
  •  Ensure the scan body is fully seated. Some clinicians opt to take a radiograph for verification.
  • Using your intraoral scanner, initiate the scanning process. Begin with the quadrant containing the implant, ensuring the entire scan body is captured.
  • Continue scanning the opposing arch and then record the bite registration.
  • Review the digital impression for clarity and completeness. Ensure all pertinent areas are captured without distortion.
  • Export the digital impression in the appropriate format (often .STL) and submit to the laboratory

Restoration delivery

  • Ensure the screw-retained crown is completely seated into the implant, with the anti-rotational features fully engaged.
  • Hand-tighten the provided titanium screw using the appropriate driver. A radiograph is recommended to confirm complete seating.
  • Tighten the titanium screw to the manufacturer’s recommended torque value using a torque wrench.
  •  Fill the screw access hole with composite
