Clinical Tips

Preparation Guidelines

By adhering to the following guidelines, you can achieve the best structural and aesthetic outcomes for your VITA ENAMIC® restorations.

Anterior Crowns:

  • Aim for an incisal reduction of at least 1.5 mm.
  • Ensure a circumferential reduction of a minimum of 0.8 mm.

Posterior Crowns:

  • Occlusal reduction should be at least 1.0 mm.
  • Maintain a circumferential reduction of at least 0.8 mm.

Inlays:

  • Target an occlusal reduction of 1.0 mm.
  • In the area of the isthmus, ensure a reduction of at least 1.5 mm.

Onlays and table tops:

  • Aim for an occlusal reduction of at least 1.0 mm.

Veneers:

  • Incisal reduction should be at least 0.3 mm.
  • Labial and cervical reductions should be a minimum of 0.2 mm each.

Bonding tips:

Adhesive resin cements should be used to bond your VITA enamic restorations.

Crowns:

  • For adhesive bonding, it's preferable to use a more flowable, dual-curing composite, especially if the layering is thick.
  • For stronger composite materials, consider using the ultrasonic insertion method or preheated composite.

Veneers:

  • Avoid using dual-curing composites for thin veneers as they might induce a slight yellowish shade change post-curing. Instead, opt for a light-curing composite.
  • For ease of handling, a microbrush can be adhesively bonded to the veneer using light-curing bonding or a glue stick as a holder.
  • When fixing the veneer, using a finger to apply pressure ensures a more uniform distribution during the adhesive cementation process.

Adjustments:

Finishing and Polishing (Intraoral)

  • Ensure special attention is given to the margins and contact points during the finishing and polishing process.
  • It's crucial to avoid heat generation during these procedures.

Morphological Adjustments:

  • Ensure the occlusion is free from any interferences. Eliminate any unwanted occlusal contacts using diamond abrasives of around 40 μm granularity.
  • If there's any excess material, it can be refined using Sof-Lex discs or files in an oscillating dental handpiece.

Polishing Steps:

1. Prepolishing:

  • Use the pink polishers from the VITA ENAMIC Polishing Set, operating between 7,000 – 10,000 rpm, ensuring you cool with water.
  • Tip: If you're using Sof-Lex polishing discs for finishing and prepolishing, stick to the medium grain (M) and very fine grain (SF) types.

2. High-Gloss Polishing:

  • Achieve a high-gloss finish with the grey diamond-coated polishers from the VITA ENAMIC Polishing Set, operating between 5,000 - 8,000 rpm.
  • Apply only slight pressure during this process and ensure polishing is done at the lowest speed without water cooling.

VITA Enamic® is more than just a restoration material; it's a promise of quality, durability, and aesthetics. At Boris Dental Labs, we harness its potential to deliver restorations that not only fit perfectly but also stand the test of time.
