Clinical Tips
Preparation
Anterior Crowns Preparation:
- For optimal outcomes, a reduction of 2mm at the incisal edge is recommended.
- Ensure a 1.5mm reduction on the labial surface and a minimal 0.5mm on the lingual side.
- It's advisable to choose a chamfer finish for the metal and a deep chamfer or shoulder for the porcelain overlay.
Posterior Crowns Preparation:
- A 2mm reduction on the occlusal surface is essential, with an increased 2.5mm reduction for functional cusps.
- Aim for a 1.5mm buccal reduction and a subtle 0.5mm reduction for the lingual metal finish.
- As with anterior crowns, a chamfer finish for the metal and a deep chamfer or shoulder for the porcelain is preferred.
Cementation
- For cementation, choose between conventional, adhesive resin, or self-adhesive resin cements based on clinical requirements.
Adjustments
- If adjustments are needed post-cementation, use fine diamond burs with water cooling to prevent overheating.
