A Fully-Milled, Pure Monolithic Zirconia Restoration
FMZ is a fully-milled, pure monolithic zirconia restoration. Renowned for its impressive translucency, lifelike characteristics, and a remarkable 1000 MPa flexural strength, FMZ offers a blend of natural aesthetics and durability, making it a top-tier choice for modern dental restorations, including implant-supported solutions, cases with severe wear and scenarios with limited occlusal space.
Benefits
- Unparalleled Strength: FMZ boasts a high resistance to fractures and crack propagation and is designed for use in the most functionally demanding cases.
- Precision Fit: Its excellent marginal fit ensures a seamless integration with natural teeth and implant abutments.
- Aesthetic Superiority: An aesthetic alternative to full gold and occlusal metal PFMs.
- Bruxism Resilience: Ideal solution for patients with severe tooth wear and who have broken or damaged previous restorations through bruxism.
- Long-Term Stability: FMZ's durability ensures it remains stable and intact over time.
- Implant Restoration: FMZ's biocompatibility and strength make it an ideal choice for implant crowns and multi-unit bridges.

Clinical Tips
Preparation Guidelines:
- Margin Selection: Choose a shoulder or chamfer margin to ensure an optimal fit.
- Occlusal Reduction: Aim for a 1mm occlusal reduction, but a minimum of 0.5mm is acceptable.
- Axial Wall Convergence: Ensure the axial walls converge without any undercuts. The preparation should be methodically executed in three distinct planes.
Bonding:
- Retentive Preparations: For tooth preparations that are retentive with minimal taper and have a height of at least 3mm, traditional cements such as glass ionomer, resin-modified glass ionomer, or self-adhesive resins are suitable.
- Less Retentive Preparations: In cases with less retentive tooth preparations, only adhesive resin cements should be employed.
Adjustments:
- Utilize a fine-grit diamond bur for adjustments, applying only light pressure. For the occlusal surfaces of posterior teeth and the lingual of anterior teeth, a rugby-shaped bur is recommended. Tapered burs are ideal for adjusting cusps or proximal contacts.
- It's crucial to note that FMZ achieves its full strength at a thickness of 0.5mm. If the final crown's thickness is at this minimum and requires adjustment, any chairside modifications should be made on the opposing tooth.
Fully Monolithic Zirconia is redefining the benchmarks of dental restorations. Whether for natural teeth or implant-supported solutions, FMZ offers unmatched strength and aesthetics. At Boris Dental Labs, we're at the forefront of this innovation, ensuring that every FMZ restoration meets the highest standards of quality and precision.
